Greenhouse report shows negative carbon footprint for Waimate District Council
Mad World prepared an independent report on the Waimate District Council’s emissions which shows the Council is carbon negative. The 35-page greenhouse gas emissions or Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI) report for 2018/19 showed the council had total carbon dioxide emissions of 904 tonnes with transport fuels (54 per cent), electricity (24 per cent) and stationary combustion (18 per cent) the council’s highest emission-based activities. However, 135 hectares of council’s forest land countered those emissions, the report stated.
